Kerry and Adams vainly attempt to administer first aid. Commander MacKinnon lies unconscious and fatally wounded. After passing an AAF checkpoint, they discover Commander MacKinnon’s destroyed vehicle, with several corpses still inside. Meanwhile, Corporal Kerry and Staff Sergeant Adams are ferrying supplies from Camp Rogain to Kamino.
The commander of the NATO forces in the region, Commander MacKinnon is urgently called to the Kamino Firing Range for unknown reasons. By July, the AAF have regained control of most of the two islands. NATO countries, facing political pressure to withdraw from the Aegian Sea at the end of their peacekeeping mandate, begin reducing their forces on the islands, causing tensions to rise between AAF and NATO forces. Five years later, with western economies still in shambles and NATO investment in the Aegian Sea dwindling, CSAT begins subsidising the AAF and simultaneously builds-up forces in the Pacific.
NATO peacekeeping forces, despite decimated economies and civil unrest deploy to the region with the intention of securing peace, and establish joint NATO-Altian Armed Forces (AAF) bases throughout the islands. In 2030 civil war occurs the islands of Altis and Stratis, killing 50% of the civilian population on Stratis, rendering thousands homeless, and causing a refugee crisis.
